Creative Schools Initiative

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann has been selected to take part in the Creative Schools initiative. The aim of Creative Schools is to put the arts and creativity at the heart of children’s and young people’s lives. It will support our school to develop and begin to implement our own Creative School Plan as together we understand, develop and celebrate our engagement with the arts.

As a Creative School we have been given the support of a Creative Associate, Rebecca Blake, to work with us for 2 years. Together with our Art Teacher Mr Gareth Mc Rory, who applied to take part in this project, Rebecca will be engaging with students, their families, teaching staff and management to develop a vision and a sustainable Creative School Plan for the arts and creativity for CCA. Central to the Creative Schools initiative is the voice of the young people who are involved.

Through this project we hope to deepen the arts and creative opportunities for our students and staff, to develop their creativity and challenge us to think in new and different ways.

Creative Schools is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Creative Schools is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme to enable the creative potential of every child.
