GIRLS SENIOR FOOTBALL
Congratulations to the girls’ senior football team who participated in the country blitz last week. The team played excellently across all six matches, and represented the school admirably in a very competitive and exciting tournament. Well done to all involved and thanks to Ms Doyle for her support of the team.
Transition Year students are engaged in a huge range of activities at the moment at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann. TY girls had a makeup lesson and talk last week, and TY boys participated in the ‘Young Whistlers’ refereeing course. Next week our Transition Years are visiting the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin and doing a walking tour of the capital. TY students are continuing with their weekly classes to help members of the community gain the most out of using their mobile phones. Well done to the TY students and teachers who took part in our recent ‘Stay Awake’ in aid of charity.
CCA BUDDING STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS
Well done to the Transition Year mini-companies who represented CCA at the County Enterprise finals recently. Special mention to the ‘No More Knots’ team of Adam Hill, Kealan Cudlipp, Jack Lenards and Daniel Kelly who created a product to keep cables and wires tidy. They won the award for most innovative product in the county! Well done also to the ‘LaLas’ and ‘Snug Sounds’ who gave excellent presentations on the day.
GIRLS AND BOYS RUGBY
CCA First Year girls are continuing their rugby development programme which is proving a great success: Leinster women’s rugby development officer Jennie Bagnall has been working with the First year girls in preparation for a blitz and forthcoming matches. Aaron Higgs, Leinster Rugby coach, has also been working with our First Year boys in a development programme. A training session for First year boys interested in rugby was held at CCA last Wednesday. Boys will take part in a blitz in Wicklow next week.
TY PARENT TEACHER STUDENT MEETING
Many thanks to the parents and students who attended last week’s parent/teacher/student meeting for Transition Year. We welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss teaching and learning with parents and students and work towards further success in our school.
Congratulations to CCA junior footballers on their victory over Arklow CBS last week 3-9 to 1-4. It was a great sporting display, particularly in the second half! Special mention to Dylan Ford, Dillon Carthy, Bradley Delaney-Byrne and man of the match Robert Clarkson.
SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE
A great week for Seachtain Na Gaeilge at CCA – lots of activities took place around the school including our TY students working on a short film as Gaeilge with Mr Rice. We look forward to watching the finished product!
Next week is Energy week at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann, and the focus will be on ways to conserve energy in our building. We are working towards our second Green Flag for the school, and the student council will be presenting the results of their research in to energy consumption and saving in the school to Wicklow County Council.
