10TH ANNIVERSARY SCHOOL WALK
Coláiste Chraobh Abhann staff and students will be putting on their walking shoes on Wednesday, 9th October, to take part in a sponsored 10km walk. Students and staff will start the walk about 11am from the school. Senior students will walk from the school down to the beach towards Greystones and back through Charlesland. Junior students will also walk down to the beach, turning towards Newcastle and then when they reach the river will turn back to Kilcoole. There is also a short walk for any students with reduced mobility. We are all looking forward to this most enjoyable walk and we would like to say thanks to staff and members of the Parents Council for all their help in facilitating the day.
OPEN NIGHT 2013
Preparations are underway for this year’s annual ‘Open Night’ on Thursday October 24th, where we welcome prospective and current parents and members of our community to visit our school. Students and staff will be showcasing the range of academic, extra-curricular and sporting activities which take place in our school, as well as the work of our student council, our choir, dancing, drama and the many more roles our students play in their rich and diverse school life.
SCHOOL MUSICAL UPDATE!
There was a great sense of excitement around the school building last week as roles were cast for this year’s school musical ‘Grease’. Work will now begin in earnest as cast members get to grips with their scripts, their dance moves and their songs. We wish them well in their hard work and look forward to seeing the final show early next year.

U17 GIRLS SOCCER
The girls under 17 soccer team competed in their first match of the year on Thursday 3rd October against St. David’s Greystones. The girls played exceptionally well and showed great heart but were unfortunately beaten on the day. There was a standout performance from Leanne Carlin Hannon and Aisling McDonald. The game was, however, great preparation for the competitive season.
U17 BOYS SOCCER
Our U17 Boys Soccer team played Leinster U17 Cup against Arklow CBS in Greystones last week. The boys played very well but unfortunately lost 4-1 to a very good side. The goal came from Liam Keogh and Man of the Match for CCA was Bradley Delaney-Byrne.
