JUNIOR CERTIFICATE RESULTS 2014

Congratulations to our Transition and Fifth Year students who received their Junior Certificate results last week.  A lot of hard work was rewarded.  Many thanks to all of our teachers who put in a huge effort to help our students achieve their results.

NEWTOWN LADIES FOOTBALL

Congratulations to the Newtown Ladies Football team on winning the Junior Final in Aughrim County grounds on Sunday September 7th.  It was a great game, with a scoreline of 2-05 to 0-5.  This was the first Newtown team to win a county final since 2003.  The students from CCA on the team were: Jessie Scott, Emma Kavanagh, Holly Martin, Katie Coleman, Anneliese Dunne, Leanne Carlin Hannon, Amy Mooney, Nicole Duffy and Aisling McDonald.  Well done girls!

NEW STUDENT COUNCIL

Congratulations to the new members of Coláiste Chraobh Abhann’s student council for this year who have just been elected. They are: Saoirse Yuan, Sam Doyle, Rowena Gahan, Jade Byrne, Cameron Cosgrave, Rachel Dutton, Ciarán Crimes, Charley Delaney Byrne, Aoife Murtagh, Holly Martin, Conor Murphy Toole and Conor Eivers.  We look forward to their hugely valuable input into the running of our school this coming academic year.

INFORMATION EVENING

The First Year Parent Information evening will take place in the school on Thursday September 18th at 8p.m.  All parents and guardians of first year students are encouraged to attend.  The meeting will be followed by the Parents’ Association AGM at 9p.m.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Extra-curricular activities are now getting underway for the new school year.  Students should keep an eye on the noticeboard in the school for the relevant days and times for the various activities, including Drama, Girls and Boys Soccer, Girls Gaelic Football and Cross Country and Athletics.

 PEER MENTORS

Lunchtime activities for first year students have now begun in earnest.  These activities are organised by the team of Peer Mentors and take place in the PE Hall at 12.35pm every Thursday.  All first years are encouraged to attend.

STAFF INSERVICE

Parents and guardians are reminded that school will finish for students at 2.30pm. on Friday, September 19th, to facilitate a staff in-service to ratify the School Self Evaluation Report and to complete the School Improvement Plan for the current academic year.  Transport is not guaranteed at this time.
