HOUSE EXAMINATIONS

Well done to our students who have worked so hard this term, supported by parents and staff, and who completed a week of Christmas exams last week.  Thanks to all staff who worked together during this very busy time at school.

CCA STUDENT NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL AWARD

We are delighted to announce that Rebekah Grant of 6th year has been nominated for an award by the Michael Sweetman Educational Trust.  The trust, set up in memory of former Irish economist Michael Sweetman, awards a trip to Euroscola in Strasbourg, France, to 24 Leaving Certificate Applied students.  The award winners get to spend a day in the shoes of an MEP; learning about the workings of the European Institutions from the inside, discussing democracy and fundamental rights with other teenagers from all over the EU and expressing their personal opinions on Europe in the chamber of the European Parliament.

5th YEAR PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT AND MENTORING MEETING

We look forward to meeting all of our 5th year parents and guardians at the parent-teacher-student meeting on Thursday 29th January 2015.  The meeting will be an opportunity for teachers, parents and students to focus on the goals to be achieved in 5th year, in order to prepare students for their final exam year.  Parents and students will also have the opportunity to meet their child’s mentor teacher, who has been assigned to give students extra guidance and support during their Leaving Certificate preparation.

CCA STUDENTS ARE FOOTLOOSE!

The cast and crew of this year’s CCA musical, an incredibly popular annual event, are busy rehearsing for what will be, as always, a great example of school spirit and a great night out at the Mermaid theatre next March.   Please contact the Mermaid Theatre to enquire about tickets on (01) 272 4030 for the show, which will run from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th March inclusive.

ANTI-BULLYING POLICY

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann’s new anti-bullying policy will be brought before the Board of Management at its next meeting for ratification. This policy will become the core document which details how the school promotes and maintains positive behaviour and relationships within the school community. The Principal thanked members of the Student Council, Parent Council and Staff who worked on this document over the last few months.

MUSIC OUTREACH PROGRAMME

The music outreach programme will be taking enrolments for term 2 at present.  The new term will start in January.  Students can access piano, singing and guitar lessons.  Please contact Ms Mitchell for further information – annemitchell@wicklowvec.ie

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
