Welcome back to all staff and students for the new academic year. We hope everyone enjoyed the summer holidays and look forward to another successful year in the school.
LEAVING CERTIFICATE STUDENTS COLLEGE DESTINATIONS
Congratulations to our 2014 Leaving Certificate students who secured places in a wide variety of third level institutions. Our graduates will be pursuing courses in a range of disciplines, including arts, science, commerce, computers and many more. Last year, 63 students (88.7%) secured places in and are attending Higher and Further Education. We are hoping to exceed this figure with the 2014 students. We wish them the very best in their studies and their future careers.
Congratulations to Jaroslaw Blacharski, a Leaving Certificate student of 2014, who had been awarded a scholarship at UCD based on his fantastic achievement of 615 points. The school is very proud of Jaroslaw, who obtained 5 A1s and 1 A2. Well done and best wishes!
First year students have recently received their new iPads and are currently becoming accustomed to using them in the classroom. This is an exciting new venture for both the school and the students, with many benefits being afforded to them, including the ability to access online teaching and learning resources including the many educational apps. It is hoped that this new initiative will help in the promotion and development of self-directed learning, while at the same time reducing the weight of students’ schoolbags.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR 2014-2015

FIRST YEAR PARENTS INFORMATION NIGHT
We look forward to welcoming the parents of our new First Year students to a special information evening on Thursday 18th September. We reserve this night especially for parents of our First Years, who have achieved so much in integrating into the culture of secondary school so well. Parents are encouraged to come along on the night with any questions or uncertainties they might have, and we will ensure that everyone is given the information, help and advice they need. Discussions will include study, nutrition, school involvement, extra-curricular activities and many more areas. We look forward to meeting our new parents on this evening.
