Many thanks to all students who contributed to the recent non-uniform day in the school.  The proceeds from the day are in aid of a third year student in the school who is quite ill at the moment.

Piano lessons will begin in the school on Friday November 13th.  All interested students are asked to speak to Ms.Mitchell for further information.

WELL DONE

Congratulations to the U15 Boys Football team who recently beat St.David’s 4-1 in a hard earned victory.

6TH YEAR PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT AND MENTORING MEETING

Many thanks to the parents and students who attended last week’s 6th year parent-teacher-student meeting, which was a very successful evening.  Our 6th year students are working very hard towards their Leaving Certificate goals and we hugely appreciate the support of parents at this time.  A huge thanks to our teachers who are working with students to achieve their target grades as part of their focus on their third level course choices.  Teachers also met parents and students on this evening as part of our ongoing mentoring programme, which allows each senior student to access the advice and support of teachers as they are making their college choices.

TARGET AND GOAL SETTING FOR STUDENTS

Students worked hard last Friday morning with the help of tutors and their Year Heads to set their academic targets for this term.  Each student reviewed their Halloween assessment report and set their target grades for the Christmas exams.

UPCOMING EVENTS AT CCA

Looking forward to the rest of November at CCA, we have a busy schedule of events lined up!  Our 5th year students will take part in a week’s placement in employment from 16th to 20th of November.  Students will be getting a chance to experience careers in sectors including healthcare, computing, accountancy, hair and beauty, business, teaching and childcare, among others.  Students will have the opportunity when they return to school to reflect on what they experienced in their work placement, and evaluate their interest in the career they have investigated.

As part of our ongoing Primary schools transition programme, on Wednesday 18th November students from Newtownmountkennedy Primary school, St Laurence O’Toole National School in Roundwood, St Francis National School in Newcastle and Kilcoole Primary school will spend the day experiencing student life at CCA, including visits to classrooms and meeting the Principal and Deputy Principal.
