ARTS WEEK

Arts Week took place in school last week, with each practical subject taking a day of the week to display their finest practical work.  Monday kicked off with Music students from classes throughout the school performing in the GP Area.  The talent of the students and the ‘OAPs’ was outstanding!  On Tuesday, the Woodwork department displayed their projects, followed on Wednesday by Metalwork, Thursday was Art and Friday was Home Economics.  Each subject area had a display of best practice from both junior and leaving cert students.  Many thanks to all the students for all their hard work in relation to this event and the teachers who helped with the displays.  

TABLE QUIZ

The class of 5THN organised a table quiz on Tuesday March 21st for all first year students.  The winning team came from 1ALH and second place was 1NTT, who both received Easter eggs.  The students raised €150 for the Irish Cancer Society, which was the charity chosen by the class.  Both teachers and students thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.  Well done to everyone involved. 

VISIT TO PRIMARY SCHOOL

Irish Dancing students from CCA joined with fourth class pupils from Newtown Primary School on Friday March 24th for our annual Seachtain na Gaeilge activity.  CCA students did a short demonstration of their dancing styles.  They then taught the pupils the Walls of Limerick.  Certificates were awarded to all participants.  This was a great success and enjoyed by all involved.

COUNTY WICKLOW ENTERPRISE FINALS

Well done to all CCA student entrepreneurs who represented the school at the County Finals of the Student Enterprise Awards last Tuesday.  Overall winner of the Junior Category was Sadhbh Durston of ‘Yum Yum’ who will go on to represent the county at the National Awards in Croke Park in May.  Alannah McCabe, Darragh Flynn, Emily Little won Best Display award.  Samuel Bishop won Best Business Report award.  Rebecca Hayden, Rachel Kinsella and Áine Molloy won Best Presentation.  Other participants were Aoife Doyle, Leah Shannon Hogg, Nicole Abrigo, Aideen Conway and Megan Walsh.
