GIRLS JUNIOR FOOTBALL

Congratulations to the Girls’ Junior Football team who beat Gaelscoil na Mara last Thursday on a scoreline of 3-8 to 2-7.  The girls played into a strong wind in the first half and after a very brave defensive performance, they went in 3 points up at half-time.  Arklow came back stronger in the second half and were winning by 2 points with 15 minutes to go.  Thanks to Taylor Brandon’s fantastic performance in goals, the girls finished strong to win by 4 points.  Congratulations to the whole panel who continue to show great character and determination throughout the competition.

U15 BOYS SOCCER

Commiserations to the U15 Boys team who lost to a very good Gorey Community School side in the Wicklow/Wexford soccer final last Thursday.  Well done to the boys for a great season.  Man of the match for CCA was Jack Elliott.

SKY SPORTS FOR LIVING

CCA were delighted to welcome our two athlete mentors - Irish 400m runner Brian Greegan and Irish basketball player Aoife McDermott who visited the school to work with a group of second year students.  The aim of the programme is to develop confidence and motivation in students through the medium of sport.

SMALL FIRMS ASSOCIATION SHOWCASE

Well Done to Luke Byrne who was a special guest at the Irish Small Firms Association Business Showcase in the RDS last Wednesday.  The event was to celebrate the success of the best small businesses in the country and Luke was the only student entrepreneur in the country who was invited to participate.  Luke showcased his business ‘Headphone Helpers’ and met with Minister for Enterprise Mary Mitchell O'Connor, who complimented his entrepreneurial skills when officially launching the showcase.
