17th January 2014

Well done to Maciej Goszczycki, who received a highly commended award at the recent Young Scientist’s Exhibition in the RDS in January.  For the project, he developed an interactive first person shooter game where a user must write specific pieces of code to enable his/her character to perform actions.  The overall aim of the project is to teach programming to young people by introducing simple code to the player in a fun and interactive way.

Congratulations to the Junior Camogie team who beat St. Kevin’s last week.  They have now qualified for the county semi-final.  The girls played very well in tough conditions and were always on top of a strong Dunlavin team.  Well done to all involved.  The team were: Holly Martin, Ava Condon, Sinéad Roche, Jade Byrne, Rachel Crimes, Erika Bellamy, Ciara Kelly, Anneliese Dunne, Sophia Smirnova, Amy Byrne, Robyn Phipps Rooney, Megan Byrne, Sinéad Conway, Áine Molloy, Grace Bruton and Róisín Belton.  Best of luck in the semi-final!

Many thanks to all students who contributed so generously to our recent non-uniform day in aid of UNICEF.

Rehearsals for the upcoming school musical have recommenced!  This year’s musical, ‘Grease’, will be performed in the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray, on Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th March 2013.  Students and staff are looking forward to a great show and the excitement is already building.  Tickets are available from the Mermaid box office, on (01) 2723140, at www.mermaidartscentre.ie and through the school.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

A reminder to all parents and guardians of fifth year students that the Parent-Teacher-Student meeting will take place on Thursday January 30th from 4.15p.m. – 6.45p.m.  The students will also meet with their mentors at this time.
