Readathon

On Wednesday, we held the first of our annual readathons in CCA. We had a fantastic turnout from our 1st and 2nd Year students who brought their favourite books along and settled in for a day of reading! Well done to you all!

Peer Education

CCA were delighted to welcome Jigsaw Wicklow to the school to facilitate a workshop on Peer Education with our TY students. Peers play an important role & have a significant influence in young people’s lives. Young people are most likely to seek support from their friends. Peer education is a health promotion approach that uses peer networks to deliver educational and skill-building material to promote health and wellbeing. Through the training delivered by Jigsaw our peer educators will deliver mental health workshops to junior students within the school. Jigsaw’s “It’s Time to Start Talking” peer education programme improves young people’s intentions to seek help and their mental health knowledge. Huge thanks to Jamie and Nicky for facilitating an excellent learning experience for our TYs.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

“Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge buailte linn! Bígí linn agus labhraimis Gaeilge! Tá neart rudaí ar siúl an tseachtain seo - cluiche peile trí Ghaeilge, tráth na gceist, scannánaíocht ina measc! Bainigí triail as an teanga a labhairt timpeall na scoile!" Seachtain na Gaeilge was in CCA this week! Staff and students were encouraged to join in and speak Irish! There were lots of activities on this week - a football match through Irish, quizzes and watching a movie! Well done to all who got involved in the week.

First Aid

Over the past three weeks all TY students have been training in First Aid and Manual Handling. After completing their online modules, students completed practical hands-on training over four days in school in Basic First Aid, AED and CPR. Many thanks to Barry from First Aid Coaching for facilitating the training.

Student Enterprise

Huge congratulations to our junior and senior students who represented in the Wicklow Final of the Student Enterprise Programme. We had numerous Mini companies taking part in the final culminating in The Sugar Shake coming runner up in the junior category and Scented Snowmen received a special commendation for their enterprise in the junior category. Artefact Colouring received the most innovative project prize in the senior category. Well done to the excellent students and our excellent, dynamic business department teachers who go the extra mile in supporting the students.
