European Languages Week

This week we celebrated Languages Week in CCA. We had a free European Food France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain. Each morning at break there was face painting in the GP Area and throughout the week there were riddles and games. Well done to the languages department for organising and to all students that got involved.

Gaeltacht

Last Friday, 49 Senior Cycle students travelled to the Gaeltacht in Belmullet in Co. Mayo to attend Coláiste Uisce. They spent the weekend on the water surfing, paddle boarding, doing team building activities, orienteering, archery, pier jumping and céilí all through Irish.

Open Night

One of the highlights of our school year is always CCA's open evening. An evening where our school community takes great pride in showcasing our fantastic facilities and provides an opportunity for prospective students, past pupils and the local community to meet our fantastic teaching team and students.

It is an evening where we inform you of what CCA has to offer, supporting students as they grow and mature in a community that lives its mission statement, "striving for Educational Excellence" and "believing in Mutual Respect".

Well done to all and we hope you get a flavour of why CCA is the school of choice in the area.

U19 Basketball

Our U19 Boys Basketball team got their league campaign off to winning ways with a 1 point victory over Holy Child Community School. The game was very evenly contested with excellent performances throughout the panel. The final score on the day was 47-46, with the last second winning shot from Aharon Smith. Well done to all involved.

Student Council

CCA student council represents the voice of the student body. The council forum creates opportunities for the development of leadership, responsibility and improved communication between staff and students. The newly elected council for 2023-24 met with Ms Page and Mr Stack to begin their years work.

Study Skills

Huge thanks to Inspire Education for delivering their “On Your Marks” programme to our 2nd and 5th year students. This programme provides students with the knowledge to have a better understanding about the memory system, how to prepare for exams and have gained great insights on time management which they will use for their exams.

TY News

This week TY students travelled to Baltinglass Outdoor Education Centre. They took part in kayaking, wall climbing, abseiling, archery and orienteering. A great two days was had by all. Many thanks to Paul and his staff for this fantastic bonding experience in a beautiful setting and excellent facilities.
