South Leinster Champions

Our Senior Boys Footballers put in an excellent performance in the South Leinster Final v Bridgetown (Wexford) winning on a final score line of 3-16 to 0-06. A great start to the tame, strongly influenced by captain Matt Nolan, saw the lads race into a 2-8 to no score lead after 10 minutes. Our strong first half performance enabled us to give the whole panel game time in preparation for the upcoming Wicklow championship. Man of the match on the day was JP Nolan who scored an impressive 2-06. Other top performers included Shane Synnott, Jack Wolohan and Daragh Heffernan. Well done lads!

First Year Boys Soccer

Our First Year Soccer boys were successful in their second match of the season and had a great win in the Wicklow Wexford First Year league. Two goals from Evan Rooney and one each from Jack Crimmins, Joe Keehan, Aidan Heffernan and Jack Kenny saw the boys take the game on a comfortable scoreline of 6-1. Best of luck to the boys in their next match.

Junior Drama Club

Students at CCA have been enjoying the junior drama club which is facilitated by Mr. Redmond. The students have created their own plot, their own scenes, while they have also been giving each other feedback to improve at the end of each club meeting. They have learned lines, while they've also practiced the importance of improvisation and thinking on the spot while on "stage". The club provides an excellent outlet for students not only interested in drama, but also for students wanting to make some new friends in a positive and welcoming environment. The junior drama club takes place every Thursday in F14 at 1:15pm. All junior students are welcome to come along and join.

Irish International

CCA extends its congratulations to Keelin Dodd who after a very successful year to date, was selected for the FAI Schools U15 squad for their friendly on Sunday against Northern Ireland. Unfortunately the team were defeated 2-0 but Keelin played very well. We look forward to many more reports in the coming months. Well done Keelin!

U15 Soccer Squad

CCA under 15 boys soccer squad were unlucky last week to lose 5-4 against Templecarrig in Greystones. There was a great team performance and excellent goals, two from Ryan Collins and one each for Mason Melia and Regan Kelly. Man of the match went to newcomer to the squad Mick Carroll for a superb defensive performance. We are still likely to qualify for the semi-final and are awaiting our opponents. Well done to the squad and mentors.

Junior Girls Football

Well done to our Girls Junior Football team on a great game this week, defeating Coláiste Raithin in the Junior League. There were strong performances all across the pitch and it was wonderful to see the teamwork on display. Well done girls!

First Year Information Night

We were delighted to welcome our incoming First Year students and their parents/guardians last Thursday to our online information evening as we began our comprehensive induction programme. Our focus on the night was on subject choice and our 1:1 digital programme. We are looking forward to our first year interviews which will occur next month and is the next step in our induction programme.

TY Book of the Month

The TY Book of the Month is "Cinderella is Dead" by Kalynn Barron. This novel was released in 2020 and the story focuses on the character of Sophia Grimmins, a young girl living in the same world as Cinderella, two hundred years after her death. Like all the other teenage girls in her society, Sophia is faced with the prospect of going to the Royal Ball to meet and marry a man she has never met before. This novel is a clever twist on the classic fairytale that inspires girls to break free from limiting stereotypes and to follow their dreams. Many thanks to TY student Sinead Fernandes for her recreation of the book cover and for providing a brief plot overview.

Healthy Eating Week

This week we celebrated Healthy Eating Week in CCA. Our theme this year was "Food for Thought"; eating well to fuel the brain for learning and study and we had a jam-packed few days! Our Healthy Breakfast Club ran every morning for students in G11 from 8.15 to 8.45 am with a selection of porridge, brown toast, yogurt and orange juice! Our Prefect Team provided daily tips on healthy food for the brain, while our SPHE Department ran a healthy-eating themed art competition. There were even some bananas on the loose at morning assemblies! Our First Year Home Economics classes also took part in a cookery competition with the winners announced as Abby Norman and Katie O'Neill. Remember "Eat well, live well, learn well!"
