1st Year Information Evening
On Thursday 26th August, we held an information evening for the incoming first years. This was an opportunity for both students and parents to familiarise themselves with the school's ethos, mission statement and values. We also had an introduction to the first year tutors, peer mentors and head boy and head girl so as to provide some familiar faces for the students on their first day.
Peer Mentor Training
Our Peer Mentor team took part in two training sessions to prepare them for their new role. Our peer mentor system is integral to our transition programme as they guide the first year students through what can be an anxious settling in period. As part of their training, they were taught to deal with all possible scenarios that may arise with the first year students. We wish them the best of luck in their role and look forward to seeing them work with the first years.
Happy Pear Visit
We were delighted to have Stephen and Dave of The Happy Pear facilitate a wellbeing talk with our staff on the return to school where they spoke about the five elements that are key to mindfulness and mental wellbeing. They also introduced their TY programme to the staff which will start on the 20th of September. We are looking forward to counting our steps, tracking sleep, tracking screen time, tracking food and tracking fun.
Head Boy and Head Girl
Our head boy and head girl, Jeremiah and Shauna, were presented with their badges during assembly in the company of Deputy Principal Ms. O'Driscoll and Year Head Mr. Hughes. They have already commenced their role by speaking at both the first year information night and the first year induction day in order to assist the students with their transition. Our head boy and head girl are role models for all students in the school and we wish them luck in their role for the year.
First Year's First Day
CCA was delighted to welcome our first years 2021/2022 to our school community. Our students have been supported by their peer mentors, tutors and staff during the week and have completed a comprehensive induction programme. Students have been settling into their new surroundings with many looking forward to the numerous opportunities and activities available to them this year.
