Back to the Grove.

12-November-20

This week was our first week back after midterm! I was actually very happy to back into a routine and come back to school, although I’ll miss the lie ins that I was having :)

On Monday in Irish we started looking at the old Irish language. Our ancestors used to write in a type of writing called an Cló Gaelach. It was really interesting to see it, and we were all provided with the challenge of writing out a paragraph about ourselves in the old Irish writing! An example of this is below as thankfully we worked on our writing all week.

Also on Monday in English class we started to look at the life of Sylvia Plath. We read about her story and looked at all of her poems.

Later on during the week I had the rest of the GAA refereeing course to finish. Gareth came in and finished teaching us all about the rules and tasks as a referee. Next week we will be doing a test to see if we can become referees. I’m really looking forward to it and becoming a referee today CCA next stop the Champions League. Also this week we had our LIFT program. We moved onto a new topic in our training and are getting closer to be able to go in and support the second years.

On Thursdays morning our tutor also had the psychometric testing. It took nearly the whole morning to complete. I’m really looking forward to getting my results to see what job would suit me! Also on Thursdays I had library club, Ms.Ward gave me a book called ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. Before starting to read this book I was never a big fan of reading but I’m actually really enjoying it.

Outside of school I have started running. Each week I’ve been trying to beat my time and get faster. It’s something I’m really enjoying and it’s something nice to do during the weekend in particular as there’s not much to do at the minute in lockdown.

I’ve also been working on creating my app for the Estonian business competition, I have worked with some of the students taking the web design module as they are using HTML and CSS to write code for their own websites. It’s coming along very well and I’m excited to show my business teacher. For next week I’m really looking forward to planning Gaeilge 24 with Mr.Rice! Not to forget science week, which is always exciting!
