First Years
Last week CCA welcomed our incoming First Years and the parents for an information evening as part of the final preparations prior to the students joining us for their First Day on the Friday. We extended a warm welcome for the first day where they spent the morning getting to know the school and each other and had the aid of the amazing Peer Mentors who helped them with their lockers, school tours and icebreaker activities.
Student Achievements
We are hugely proud of a number of our students excelled in sporting endeavours during the summer.
Incoming 1st year Fionn Stephens sealed two Irish Junior Motorbike Championship wins!
Aislinn Edwards was successful in being selected to represent Ireland in the under 18 Recurve category with the Archery Ireland National Youth Squad.
A number of students were representing their county at under 13 and under 15 Galway Cup in August
Leaving Cert Results
Management and staff of CCA would like to congratulate the class of 2023 on their excellent results which they received on Friday 25th. We welcomed the students back to the school to celebrate their results with their teachers and classmates in what was a joyous occasion. We wish all students the very best of luck with the next chapter of their lives.
CCA's Evening Study Programme:
We would encourage all of our students to consider this excellent facility. The programme will provide students with a suitable atmosphere and environment to progress their studies resulting in a better quality of homework and a superior set of grades in examinations. Please contact Ms. Coleman, Ms. Tobin or email reception@colaisteca.ie.
Peer Mentors and Prefect Training
Our Peer Mentor and Prefect Teams took part in a training session to prepare them for their new role. A big thank you to Samantha who facilitated the training programme for both our Peer Mentors and our Prefects. Our Peer Mentor system is integral to our transition programme as they guide the First Year students through what can be an anxious settling-in period. As part of their training, they were taught to deal with all possible scenarios that may arise with the First Year students and also learned different communication techniques. Throughout the year, the Peer Mentors will continue to assist the First Years and their tutors every morning, they will help with organisation in relation to lockers, homework, schoolwork and study. We wish them the best of luck in their role for the remainder of the year.
