Garda Workshop

On Monday, February 27th Community Gardaí from the Greystones station visited CCA, Kilcoole to give a very interesting workshop to our First Year students titled ‘Connect with Respect’. The workshop is a collaboration between An Garda Síochána and Webwise. Webwise are an Irish organisation that have a variety of free educational resources and workshops for Parents, Educators and community workers that focus on Internet Safety. First Years were very engaged participants in this Post-Primary Schools programme that focused on Cyberbullying, Harassment and Social Media use. First Years had an opportunity to reflect on the positives and negatives of Internet usage and discuss various issues around Cyberbullying. The workshop gave a chance for students to interact with and get to know our local community Gardaí in an informal setting and the workshop was a valuable experience for all involved! For more information and resources on Internet Safety for Teens please visit https://www.webwise.ie/.

Student Sport Success

Well done to Ciara Short, 6th year, who captained the South East u18 girls team last Wednesday night to win the Sarah Robinson Cup in Tullow.

South East won on the night versus North Midlands 24-19. There are 5 teams representing each of their areas in Leinster. North Midlands, Midlands , North East , Metro and South East. South East Captained by Ciara won all 4 games crowning the South East Regional champions of Leinster.

Congratulations to John Phoenix 5th year who won the boxing Leinster finals this month. John has put in a huge amount of work and commitment over the last year and is now through to the All Ireland championships on March 24th. We wish him the very best of luck in his training for this over the coming weeks.

2nd Year Girls Basketball

Well done to the 2nd Year girls basketball team who won their final pool game in a very close match against St. David's. The girls fought really hard for all four quarters to go ahead by one point in the last minute. Yasmin Bishop, Anna Doyle and Emma Surmova were stand out players on the day. This win has put the team at the top of their pool and they will now go forward to the quarter finals in two weeks time.
