CCA Student Congress
Thursday marked an exciting day for us in CCA as we hosted our first ever Student Congress. All of our student leaders took part in a collaborative event whereby our CCA Student Council, Prefects, Peer Mentors and Class Captains met to generate discussion and share feedback on school life. A special thanks goes to Mr. Rice, our Student Council Coordinator, who has worked with the students to prepare for this special occasion. Also thanks to Mr. Dermot O'Brien, Coordinator of Wicklow Youth Council (Comhairle na nÓg) for his video message to our student leaders. Well done to everyone involved!
U14 Football Final
Congratulations to 1st and 2nd year students; Sarah Heatly, Clara Cannon, Anne Boué, Laura Ginty, Claire Ginty, Siofra Brady, Sadhbh Nolan and Nicole McCauley who play for An Tóchar girls U14 team. They had a fantastic win in the county final this week against Clan na Gael. Well done girls!
Enterprise Exchange
Next week marks an exciting week for CCA where 5th year students along with Mr. Hughes and Ms. Page will travel to Slovenia to take part in an enterprise exchange programme. The exchange programme involves 12 students from a school in Slovenia, Estonia and CCA in Ireland. As part of the programme, our students have been busy working on products with the focus on sustainability. 6 of the students will be travelling to Slovenia next week with the remaining 6 travelling to Estonia in February. The students from Slovenia and Estonia will then travel to Ireland in May where we will host them for an enterprise week. Best of luck to the students and teachers next week. We look forward to seeing what Slovenia has in store for them!
2nd Year Boys Gaelic Football
Our 2nd year boys had their first game of the season on Thursday against Blessington. There had been great numbers at training which led us to having a big panel on the day. The game ended 6-4 to 4-5 in a very enjoyable game of football. The win was based on a good team spirit, positive communication and excellent teamwork. A great game was had by all but a special mention must go to Jaden Murdiff whose outstanding saves kept us in the game at times. Next up is Gaelcholáiste na Mara next week. Well done lads!
Senior Careers Virtual Talk
This Thursday we had a very informative talk at lunchtime on the application process for the CAO as well as the application for the HPAT. All 6th year students were invited to the talk in order to make them more informed on the process and of their choices. Thanks to Ms. Garvey for organising.
U13 Hurling Final
Congratulations to The Kilcoole U13 Hurling team who had a great win in the A championship final at the weekend beating Glenealy by two goals. Standout performers on the day from CCA were Robert Cowman, Lochlainn Hughes and man of the match Aidan Heffernan. Well done to all involved.
