Young Scientist:

Well done to our Transition Year students, Grace Cullen, Aisling Doyle and Ava Smith Mc Garry, who took part in the National Young Scientist Competition in the RDS. Under the guidance of their Science teacher, Mr. Gavin Kenny, they have worked incredibly hard on their project ‘Sustainable Forest Fire Prevention’ to explore sustainable ways of preventing forest fires. We are so proud of you and we know you amazed the judges and the wider public with your work!

Dance Workshop

On Tuesday, TY students participated in a dance workshop with Jay Asolo. Students learned hip hop and street dance routines, while also learning about rhythm, timing, self expression, hip hop foundations and dance choreography.

U19 Boys Badminton Team

A huge congratulations to our U19 Boys Badminton Team who have qualified for the Dublin District Division 3 Badminton Final. The boys had two big 6-0 victories in the quarter final against St. Aidans and the semi final against St. Fintans to secure their spot. Well done lads!

6th Year Geography Field Trip

Sixth Year Geography students travelled to Killiney Beach on Friday January 6th to conduct their Geographical Investigation as a whole class activity. Fieldwork is an essential ingredient of geography because it provides a ‘real-world’ opportunity for students to develop and extend their geographical thinking; it adds value to classroom experiences. Students were very active throughout the day. This fieldwork provides students with a great opportunity to research locally, it is very much ‘hands on’; as they are involved in fieldwork enquiries, collecting primary data; formulating questions to investigate; seeking answers to their questions; and communicating their findings.
Students were examining coastal processes of transportation and deposition at the site and the formation of coastal landforms. Each student will write up their own report booklet based on the information they gathered during the fieldwork. This will be submitted to the SEC later this year. Draft reports are currently being completed by all students. This fieldwork is an essential part of the Leaving Certificate course and is worth 20% of the final Geography grade. Good luck to all students as they work on their write up!

Senior Boys Football

Well done to our Senior Football team who had a great win over Creagh College in the Leinster Quarter Final. An impressive defensive display led by Ben Campbell and Cameron Brady gave us the attacking platform we needed to put up a big score of 3-15. Best on the day for CCA were Ben Campbell, Aharon Smith and Josh Healy.

First Year Information Night

We were delighted to welcome our incoming 1st Year Students and their Parents/Guardians to CCA to our information evening as we began our comprehensive induction programme. Our focus was on subject choice and our 1:1 digital programme.
