Open Night

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann’s Open Night will take place on Thursday 21st of September from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Come meet our staff and students and get a flavour of what makes Coláiste Chraobh Abhann so special.

Take a tour around the school and see the wonderful facilities our school has to offer. Speak with our experienced teachers about the broad subject choices in our Junior Cert, Transition Year, Leaving Cert and Leaving Cert Applied programme. Enjoy presentations from our comprehensive extra-curricular activities including our sport clubs, student council, special performances from our talented showstopper finalists and much much more. All welcome!

Extra-Curricular

Preparations are underway for our extra-curricular activities to resume in the coming weeks. Our comprehensive list of extra-curricular activities for 2023/2024 will be available shortly on the extra-curricular noticeboard. We would encourage anyone interested in taking part in their preferred activity to speak to the organising teacher involved.

121 Digital

There are still places available on our 121 Digital programme, facilitated by our Transition Year students every Monday at 2.45pm for 55 minutes. 121 Digital is an opportunity for local adults to come to the school and have one-to-one IT tuition. Both Improver and Beginner Levels are catered for and lessons are free of charge. Contact margaretmccormack@kwetb.ie for more information and just bring your laptop, tablet or smartphone.

TY News

Classwork - TY Students showed great enthusiasm for real-world research, an essential tool for understanding classroom theory, as they carried out geographical fieldwork in Kilcoole today. Students were gathering data on land use, environmental quality, and traffic congestion. We look forward to the students evaluating and analysing their research data in the coming weeks.

Workshop - TY students took part in a motivational workshop today. Stephen Kiernan, author of Brilliant Mondays, delivered a powerful message to believe in yourself and your ability to achieve whatever goals you set, with planning, resilience and continuous development. Students listened to examples of how ordinary people achieve extraordinary things. We are looking forward to seeing each of our students reach their goals in the future.

Workshop - Many thanks to Pamela and Pat from Codling Wind Park for facilitating an environmental workshop yesterday with our TY students. We look forward to working in collaboration with them over the coming months in preparation for our Environmental Youth Conference.

3rd year Academic Awards

Today CCA was delighted to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of our 3rd year students who, following the Summer Assessments, achieved the top mark in each subject. Well done to the students who were presented with their certificates at their weekly assembly held by Year Head, Ms Smith and Deputy Principal, Ms Tobin.

20th Anniversary

This week, 20 years ago, CCA opened its doors and welcomed the first students to our amazing school. To mark the occasion members of the staff from 2003 who are still with us provided the current staff with some treats for breaktime. Huge thanks to Mr Nugent, Ms Crean, Ms Smith, Mr Maher and Ms Tarrant for the lovely gesture.

We look forward to celebrating the 20th Anniversary throughout the coming year with various events.
