6th Year LCPE Debate
While learning about ethics and fairplay in sport, the 6th Year LCPE class held a lively debate on the controversial Thierry Henry handball of 2010. Three groups battled it out to decide if it was an act of gamesmanship, deviance or simply the referee’s fault? The group members each spoke passionately for their side, but ultimately those arguing that Henry committed an act of deviance were victorious! Best speaker winners on the day were Daragh Heffernan and Ciara Short. Well done to all. Thanks to 6th Year student Charlotte Nagle for the report.
Stand up Awareness Week
CCA celebrated our school culture of inclusion and belonging with a week of activities and events that embrace our neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, multinational and travelling community students. Throughout the week we acknowledged and supported the diversity and uniqueness of all the staff and students who make up our wonderful CCA community. A packed schedule of speakers, competitions, quizzes, bake sales, presentations and a showcase of various foods, dress and traditions from a variety of cultures were recognised and appreciated during the week. A fundraiser was held in the school with proceeds of Є115.50 being donated to As I Am as a show of support for our neurodiverse students. A huge well done to the TY committee for organising a wonderful week.

Shoebox Appeal
TY Christmas Shoebox Appeal; a great success! Our TY Community & Voluntary class would like to thank students, parents & staff for their kind support & generous donations to the recent Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. The appeal was a great success and our TY class put in a huge effort to wrap, pack & sort over 50 Christmas shoeboxes which have now been shipped off & the gifts will be delivered straight into the hands of children affected by poverty across the world. The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox appeal is a great cause and CCA TYs are delighted to have played their part in the project. Well done to all involved.

Film Making
TY students took part in a filmmaking workshop. Students learned all about the tv and film industry as well as learning about camera shots and sizes, how to shoot in sequence, visual FX, editing and learned how to use their iPads as a camera and edit suite. A great variety of work was produced by students such as horror films, murder mysteries, music videos, a sports show and even Mean Girls the musical which featured cameos from some of the teachers in the school. We look forward to Susan and Lavinia returning next week for more Movie Magic fun with the rest of our TY students.
Careers Fair
On Wednesday, we celebrated College Awareness Week with a fantastic Careers Fair. Students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from over 25 universities, colleges and apprenticeships including UCD, Trinity College, DCU, an Garda Síochána and the ESB. It was a pleasure to welcome back past pupils who were assisting with the ESB stand. We were also delighted to welcome students and colleagues from St. Kevin's Community College, Dunlavin who joined us on the day. Through the very well organised day students had the opportunity to attend various talks in the GP area from a variety of the colleges. We would like to thank Ms Garvey, Ms Dooley and Ms OBrien for organising such an informative and engaging Careers Fair.
Wicklow Youth Summit
On Wednesday, members of Student Council attended the Youth Summit facilitated by the Wicklow Comhairle. Fifth year student Cayden Elliot was involved in helping on the day as part of his role as a member of the Wicklow Comhairle. Students got the opportunity to actively engage with other students about key issues facing young people in society today. It was an excellent day and students thoroughly enjoyed working with students from other schools.
U19 Boys Badminton
Congratulations to the U19 Boys Badminton Team who had a 5-1 victory over Belvedere College today. The boys have one last group game against Templecarrig next week when they will find out if they get through to the knockout stages.
College Awareness Week

This week we celebrated College Awareness Week in CCA. We had drop everything and talk college during tutor time where teachers talked to students about their college experience and their career pathways. We had a wall of fame display in the GP area documenting the career pathways of former pupils. First and Second Year students participated in a "My Dream Job" activity where they were asked to research, describe and illustrate their dream job. There was also a PADLET created to get students thinking about their future career pathways. There were lots of links and videos for students to interact with. The big focus of the week was the careers fair which was held on Wednesday.
