Random Act of Kindness Week
In CCA this week we celebrated Random Acts of Kindness which was organised by our Student Council. Students and teachers were encouraged to perform Random Acts of Kindness throughout the week. On Tuesday, each student and teacher were given the name of one of their peers and were encouraged to do something nice for them on the day whether it be hold open a door, help them with some schoolwork or spend time with them at breaktime. On Wednesday, the focus was on general school life and at home and on Thursday students were encouraged to do Random Acts of Kindness for their teachers. It was a wonderful week which saw all students eagerly taking part and created a wonderful atmosphere in the school.
Athletics
Well done to our students who participated in the East Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships in the Phoenix Park on Wednesday 28th of January. On a cold day our students excelled with Oscar Durston, Dillon Hunt, Aoibhinn Keating and Sean Lundy all qualifying for the Leinster Championships. Noah Little was our best placed of the day with 3rd in the minor boys. Well done to all participants who braved the weather and represented the school so well!
Student Council Fundraisers
Well done to our Student Council on their recent Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser which supports local charities. Members of the Council were delighted to present a cheque to WSPCA and to WH Five Loaves during the week. Thanks to Mr. Rice and the Council for their ongoing work in supporting our community.
Relove Fashion Competition
Well done to Holly Eager, 4OCN on her entry for the Relove Fashion Competition. This is a Sustainable Fashion competition where students are asked to use their creative design skills to create a sustainable and wearable outfit. It encourages students to take a deeper look at how their clothing is made and challenges them to explore creative reuse options such as upcycling, repairs, alterations and mending. Holly is considering a career in costume design for theatre and film once she finishes school.
1st Year Boys Soccer
On Thursday our First Year Soccer team were out for their first match of the year. They were up against a strong team from Gorey Community School in the Wicklow Wexford League. Unfortunately the match did not go our way and resulted in a loss of 2-0. Well done to all the boys who put up a very good display with a notable mention for Man of the Match Rian Daye.
